Course Overview

The course is primarily online and offered over a four-week block, divided into two parts. Students may choose to take the full four-week elective or enroll for either Part A or Part B, each lasting two weeks.

Although Parts A and B can be taken at different times, students who take the full four-week elective (Parts A and B) consecutively will save $50.

What You Will Learn

Upon completion of this elective, students will be able to:
  • Discuss each FABM with confidence in a way that is understandable to patients.
  • Describe key hormonal changes of the female cycle and how they produce physical signs or biomarkers women can learn to observe and track to monitor their health, plan their families, and address medical issues.
  • Learn to read the female cycle chart and how to identify potential days of fertility as well as abnormalities that may signal specific medical conditions.
  • Observe the integration of FABMs in women’s health care by working with physicians, other clinicians, and educators trained in various evidence-based methods of fertility awareness.

Part A: FABMs for Family Planning

FABMs for Family Planning introduces each of the modern evidence-based FABMs, how they work, and the studies showing their effectiveness to prevent and achieve pregnancy.

Part B: Fertility Awareness for Women’s Health

Fertility Awareness for Women’s Health connects the science of endocrinology to core concepts of FABMs and describes how these methods may be used to diagnose and manage common women’s health conditions.
