Student Medical Elective
The FACTS Student Medical Elective provides medical students and students in other health professions with a comprehensive introduction to Fertility Awareness-Based Methods (FABMs), including the evidence supporting their role in women’s health and effectiveness for family planning.

Course Overview
The course is primarily online and offered over a four-week block, divided into two parts. Students may choose to take the full four-week elective or enroll for either Part A or Part B, each lasting two weeks.
Although Parts A and B can be taken at different times, students who take the full four-week elective (Parts A and B) consecutively will save $50.
What You Will Learn

Part A: FABMs for Family Planning
FABMs for Family Planning introduces each of the modern evidence-based FABMs, how they work, and the studies showing their effectiveness to prevent and achieve pregnancy.
Part B: Fertility Awareness for Women’s Health
Fertility Awareness for Women’s Health connects the science of endocrinology to core concepts of FABMs and describes how these methods may be used to diagnose and manage common women’s health conditions.

Enrollment for this elective is open on a rolling basis, but the course cannot be purchased directly through this page.
Students must apply first through the FACTS application form. Once your application is reviewed and your elective dates are confirmed, you will receive instructions to complete enrollment and payment.
